• The first step involves your contractor. All contractors must be licensed in the state of Georgia, have a current Georgia business license and they must be registered with DeKalb Development Services.
• All zoning requirements must be followed including floodplain status, residential building heights, building setbacks, stream buffer ordinances and specific requirements if your property is located in a historical district.
• Depending on when your home was purchased your information may not be updated in the county tax records. If this is the case you will need to show proof of ownership.
• Fill out all required applications, attach three copies of your site plan along with your environmental requirements form, tree ordinance exemption paperwork and the energy conservation compliance checklist.
